Her eyes started to burn, the words on the page slowly losing their shape, melting into one another until she couldn’t tell one line from the next. She blinked a few times, trying to focus, but it only made it worse. With a quiet sigh, she lifted a hand and rubbed her eyes, exhaustion settling deeper into her bones before she slipped off her glasses and placed them beside her.
For a moment, she just sat there, staring at nothing.
